I need a book...

Hello to all.
Fans of this medium may remember me from previous posts. If you are new and just stumbled across, welcome. Let's get the formalities out of the way.

I love books. More specifically I LOVE fiction.

Novels. Tales. The writings of an overdeveloped and fantastic imagination.

And the only thing I love as much as reading books, is recommending books to others.

So to establish some parameters of what you will find on this site, here is a quick rundown:

Book Review - 3/28/2011

THE LADY MOST LIKELY - Julia Quinn, Connie Brockway, and Eloisa James * Remember the robin-robin stories your English teacher used to have you write with your classmates? Three of the leading ladies in the Regency Historical world have come together to weave one story with multiple heroes/heroines. The story takes place at a Regency House party, in which the hostess is trying to find her brother, the Earl of Briarly, a wife. Along the way, several other matches are made as well! Lady Finchley has invited some of the most eligible young ladies to her home for the party, as well as a complementary number of young men - balance is important you know! However, the Earl keeps losing his prospective brides to others, only to realize that the perfect one was right under his nose all along! Each writer continues the story from the previous writer seamlessly! I was surprised to look up and see a new name along the top of the page! Overall - a fun book!

Movie Review - 3/28/2011

Robin Hood (2010) - starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett *As usual, I did not see this in the theatres and I really wish that I had. The scenery is beautiful, filmed on location in Wales. The costumes equally well done. This is the story of how Robin, an archer crusading with King Richard II, became Lord of Locksley and the Outlaw of Sherwood Forest. It seems to precede the usual tales. I loved it. Russell Crowe's accent seems to be an amalgam of British/Welsh/Australian - but who cares? He plays a handsome, sympathetic character. I do have to say that Cate Blanchett carries the film. Her portrayal of Marian of Locksley reminds of the hardship of a woman at that time and the rarity of happiness and love in their lives. The one portrayal I took exception with was that of Eleanor of Aquitaine, who was presented as an unattractive elderly woman with little power. I have often read that Eleanor was strong and beautiful to her death. Overall - not Academy Award material - but a good movie - especially for those with a fondness for Medieval tales!
